Superb Quality Vintage (1960s) English "Falstaff" Silver Plated Tea & Coffee Set (1.3kg). Weighs just over 1.3kg. A superb example of British craftsmanship.

Must be seen and handled close up to be fully appreciated. If you're looking for a good quality one of these sets then you'd be hard pressed to find too many better quality and in better condition. Around 60 years old but silver plating is almost totally intact. If you are extremely particular then I'd say the sugar bowl is very slightly tarnished which should polish up with a suitable silver cleaner. The 12 sets of photographs attached are an accurate description of the condition.

Please browse all photographs attached for size, weight and condition as they are self explanatory. (If you also require a silver plated tray / salver please advise and I may be able to supply you with one). Williams & Sons Limited registered the logo FALSTAFF on the 27th Oct 1949 from the Address Arnewill Works, 84 Vyse St. They logo was subsequently registered the in the USA on the 25th June 1963 using the same address. The company started at Arnewill Works, 84 Vyse Street, Birmingham.

They were in the Jewellery Quarter going back to the early 1900's before moving to Lichfield Road Birmingham which was a modern building and factory. Brothers Ted and Arnold Williams successfully made a small business in to an internationally renowned firm. The warehouse was reported to be like Aladdin's Cave filled with all kinds of silverware items. "Falstaff Plate" was one of their brand names another was "Pendragon". The firm took part in The 1929 and 1947 British Industries Fairs, 1947 Fair being held at Castle Bromwich, UK.

The company was still in existence in the late 1970s but sadly fell in to hard time and eventual decline closure due to cheaper imports from abroad particularly from the Far East. This sadly was the demise of many such British companies particularly in Birmingham which was world renowned for its metal craftsmanship and history.
