1860's Aesthetic movement silver plated 2-section tea caddy, W. W. Harrison

Stunning mid-Victorian silver plated two-section tea caddy shaped like an oblong casket and raised on 4 large ball feet. The hinged, slightly domed lid opens to reveal two interior lids with knop finials.

Hand-chased all over with an intricate and sumptuous design of scrolls, foliage and geometric shapes that are encased in engine-turned borders. This type of opulent decoration was popular during the Aesthetic movement of the period.

Harrison & Co, Sheffield, c. 12.5 cm tall to rim. 16.5 x 9.7 cm across the body. 18 x 11 cm across the feet. Some light wear to silvering to handle, feet and interiors of the lid; some marks inside; the caddy was re-plated at some point.
